Trailer Park Boys is a Canadian mockumentary television series created and directed by Mike Clattenburg. The event focuses on the misfortune of a group of park trailers residents, some of whom are former inmates, living in the fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The television series, a continuation of the 1999 film Clattenburg with the same title, aired on the Showcase in 2001. There are 3 films released in the series: The Movie , released on October 6, 2006; Countdown to Liquor Day , released on September 25, 2009; and Do not Legalize It , was released on April 18, 2014, after a problem during production.
The seventh and final season of the original series series on Showcase ended in 2007, with his final episode, "Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys", debuted as a one-hour special on December 7, 2008.
A few years later, Robb Wells, John Paul Tremblay, and Mike Smith, actors who portray Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles, bought rights to performances from original producers, and created their own internet streaming network called "Swearnet". In March 2014, Swearnet began producing new events this season, partnering with Netflix streaming service to produce the eighth and ninth seasons, as well as 3 new specials. Season 8 airs on September 5, 2014, followed by Season 9 on March 27, 2015.
Later that year, the show received a green light for two more seasons, and began production in Season 10. During that time, the Canadian government has given players and money crews to help produce new seasons, and a new spin-off series. Season 10 airs on Netflix on March 28, 2016.
The new 8-part series, Trailer Park Boys: Out of the Park: Europe , is available for streaming on Netflix on October 28, 2016. Video Trailer Park Boys
History
In 1998 the director, Mike Clattenburg, wrote and directed a short film titled One Last Shot shot in black and white. The film follows the exploits of two friends, Rob (Robb Wells), and JP (John Paul Tremblay), though not based on the same setting as Trailer Park Boys, but the first time Robb, John Paul, and John Dunsworth work together. In the feature film 1999, Trailer Park Boys, Julian's character declared to the camera in the movie that he wanted his life documented after receiving a paranormal phone prognosis that he would die soon. He hopes the film will deter others from the life of the crime he chose.
The feature film was featured at the Atlantic Film Festival in 1999, and attracted the attention of producer, Barrie Dunn, who saw the potential for a TV series. Clattenburg and Dunn, along with Wells and Tremblay, worked on proposals for the 13-episode event and went to Toronto to promote the show to The Comedy Network. After being rejected, they suddenly decided to hold a show to Showcase before heading back to Nova Scotia.
They found that the network accepted, and sent them back with a commitment for the first season, provided that the second experienced producer, (who eventually became Michael Volpe) was brought in to help the team. The first six episodes 30 minutes later were written and filmed. Some modifications were made to the character and storyline for the series, and more humor was added to the series compared to the film.
The biggest change from film to series is the addition of the character "Bubbles" Mike Smith, which was originally developed for the previous short film The Cart Boy ; a film that Smith, Wells, Tremblay, and Clattenburg worked on together in 1995. Smith's character soon grew from repetitive characters to one of the main protagonists of the show (although in the previous film, "Bubbles" was the name of the character cat Smith). Trailer Park Boys lives with Showcase for his first seven seasons. Beginning with the eighth season, the series was released through Netflix.
The early seasons were shot in various trailer parks in Nova Scotia, but the crew were not invited to shoot again due to complaints from residents. The room was purchased and a set of functional trailer parks built in Dartmouth for the later season, giving the staff more freedom than at the previous location. When the series returns from hiatus starting with Season 8, it was shot in Trailer Park Bible Hill Estates in Truro, Nova Scotia, and every after since has since been filmed at that location.

Plot
The episodes revolve around the residents of Sunnyvale Trailer Park, Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles who are trying to make money through petty crime while avoiding the police. Their schemes were complicated by the meddling intervention of Park La Lay's revenge alcoholic Parker and his assistant and girlfriend, Randy. Ricky and Julian's cheating was rivaled by Lahey's drunken stupidity.
Throughout the series, Ricky and Julian end up inside and out of jail, with most of their schemes failing. The seasons then adopted the cycle formula: each end of the season featuring a successful boy scheme, and their future looks optimistic, while the premiere season's showdown will show them how things got wrong temporarily. Fans learn hoping that the season will end with some or all of the main characters go to jail.
Character
Each character has a certain characteristic or characteristic of a particular brand. Julian often takes on leadership roles and designs schemes, while holding Cuba Libre on the rock in his hand. Ricky believes himself to be a fool, and seeks advice from Julian; his speech is often mixed with malapropism, referred to by fans as "Rickyisms", he is usually quite incompetent and is also known for his trademark sideburns. Bubbles wore glasses that zoomed his eyes to unusual levels, drove a go kart, lived in a warehouse with lots of cats, and got mad when Ricky and Julian fought. The caravan park inspector, Jim Lahey, is usually drunk, and almost always hangs the word "shit" into his warning metaphor, which fans call "Shitism". Her assistant and girlfriend, Randy, is always shirtless, unless forced to wear t-shirts, and is often ridiculed because of her big stomach and cheese burger addiction.
There are also three pairs of minor minor characters. Cory and Trevor are good friends who help and idolize Ricky and Julian, often unaware that they will serve as scapegoats when Ricky and Julian's plans must be completely wrong. Lucy is the mother of Ricky's daughter, Trinity, while Sarah moves with Lucy after Ricky is incarcerated. J-Roc is a white aspiring rapper who really thinks he's black; he is rarely seen without his friend T, who is actually black.
Because some actors have been coming and going for years, the players are listed by how many seasons they have appeared throughout the show.
Main cast member
Departure
Cory and Trevor
In addition to his role as Trevor, Michael Jackson is also a behind-the-scenes production assistant for the 2-6 season. During this time, Jackson and many other actors on the show were paid the minimum scale (wage) even though the event was more successful. Tensions are growing among producers (Barrie Dunn and Mike Volpe) and Jackson due to working conditions and creative strife. Jackson gave notice that he will fulfill his contract up to and including season 6, as he is close friends with the creator of the Mike Clattenburg series.
The producers and writers did not directly address the issue of Cory and Trevor leaving the show at the end of season 6 even though they knew their upcoming departure for some time before. However, the characters' departure from Sunnyvale is addressed in season 7 and their names have become part of the ongoing Trailer Park Boys storyline. Cory Bowles returns for Season 8 and has since appeared in every subsequent season, with Jacob Collins Jacob Rolfe's character filling Jackson's role as Cory's sidekick. In season 10, Cory Bowles is credited as a director for several episodes.
Ray
Barrie Dunn, who plays Ricky's allegedly flawed role, Ray's last alcoholic fate involvement with the franchise is a 2014 Do not Legalize It movie, which serves as a silencing character, because it empties the ownership of the series, he no longer wants to get involved on the show.
Phil Collins
Richard Collins, who plays Jacob Collins's father, Phil Collins of Seasons 4-7, died of a heart attack on April 15, 2013. His last involvement with the franchise was also his film.
Lucy
On April 2, 2016, Lucy DeCoutere announced via Twitter that she quit the show after fellow star Mike Smith was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman. Later that day, publicist Sheila Roberts said that DeCoutere had informed the show's producers weeks before Smith's arrest that he would not be returning for next season's show.
J-Roc
On April 20, 2016, Jonathan Torrens announced that he had also left the show, tweeting, "Playing J-Roc has really become one of the greatest pleasures & privileges of my life, but it's time to hang ol 'do-lap. " Responding to the fans' reaction, he tweeted, "Completely touched and comforted by all your best wishes and your kind words. The real legacy of Trailer Park Boys will always be the loyalty of his fans." Torrens's last appearance as J-Roc with the rest of the cast is in "Trailer Park Boys Podcast" episode 33, released March 18, 2016.
Jim Lahey
On October 16, 2017, actor John Dunsworth, who plays Jim Lahey, died after a brief illness. The filming for the twelfth season has begun in June 2017 and ends at the end of August, before the death of Dunsworth.
Style
The series is taken in mockumentary style (including old usage), featuring a handheld camera. Characters often speak directly to crew members, who are often involved in the plot. In one episode, a crew was shot; on the other, there is a shortened by Jim Lahey. The show is loosely written, with lots of ad-libles dialog from the basic plot points. These aspects are meant to arouse a sense of realism. All three have stated that many of the most popular events of the day are not in the script.
Continuing the myth that Trailer Park Boys is nonfiction, many actors (especially Robb Wells, John Paul Tremblay, Mike Smith, John Dunsworth, and Patrick Roach) often make a public appearance in character.
Reception
This event became very successful in many countries. The main trio of the show previously toured with Our Lady Peace, with whom Bubbles sang her distinctive song "Liquor and Whores". On January 13, 2017, Trailer Park Boys and Bubbles finally released "Liquor & Whores" as an EDM song produced by Canadian Muli-Platinum Producer, Marc Mysterio on Sony Music. The Trailer Park Boys has also appeared in the music video with The Tragically Hip, while Bubbles has appeared with George Canyon and Snow, and they have become presenters at various awards events - always in character. Several famous artists appeared on the show, such as Alex Lifeson from Rush in "Closer to the Heart," singer Rita MacNeil in the fourth season of the final "Working Man," Brian Vollmer of Helix, Sebastian Bach from Skid Row, and end singer -songwriter Denny Doherty from The Mamas and Papas in the seventh season of "A Shitriver Runs Through It".
The show is very successful for Showcase cable network, where it is the highest Canadian series on the network. It airs in Australia on The Comedy Channel, in the UK and Spain at Paramount Comedy, in the Republic of Ireland on 3e, in Iceland on SkjÃÆ'¡rEinn, in New Zealand on TV 2, in Israel on Xtra Hot, in the Netherlands at Comedy Central Netherlands, in Denmark in DR2, in Portugal at SIC Radical, in Germany at Comedy Central Germany, in Finland at Nelonen, in Bulgaria on Nova Television, and in Poland at Comedy Central Polska. In the United States, BBC America has previously aired a censored version of events, but is no longer part of their ranks. On February 5, 2009, the satellite provider DirecTV began broadcasting the series in the United States on its The 101 Network channel, uncensored, at a rate of two episodes per week. DirecTV aired all seven running season Trailer Park Boys , plus both specials. All episodes are broadcasted on DirecTV in a 16: 9 widescreen format (though not in High Definition resolution), as opposed to the standard 4: 3 aspect of the DVD release of the first five seasons. It is also available on Netflix.
Actor John Dunsworth, John Paul Tremblay, and Robb Wells can be seen in the 2002 Virginia Wells film starring Gabriel Byrne and Joanne Whalley. John Dunsworth plays the local police while John Paul Tremblay and Robb Wells play active and verbal city people who are similar to their characters Trailers Park Boys .
