Vanish is a stain brand that removes products owned by Reckitt Benckiser, sold in Australia, India, Indonesia, South Africa, Latin America, Britain and most of Europe. In North America, this product is sold under the brand name Resolve.
The product line is not associated with the North American Vanish toilet cleaning brand belonging to S. C Johnson. Most Vanish products are designed to remove stains from clothing, with some to remove stains from carpets and upholstery.
In Australia, Vanish has replaced 'Preen' in the voice advertising media as a name for pre-treatment clothes stain removal, although "Vanish Preen" and "Vanish Napisan" continue to emerge as sub-brands. The Vanish marketing slogan, in January 2011, is "Trust Pink, Forget Stains".
VANISH is the leader of the global stain removal market in the Fabric care category, which is sold in more than 60 countries worldwide. VANISH started as a stain washing product manufactured around 1983 by a small Scottish company called Projectina Co Ltd founded by Robert G Macfarlane in Skelmorlie, Scotland. The brand was soon acquired by Ecolab in 1986 and became the Benckiser brand in 1987 when the latter purchased Ecolab consumer goods. Benckiser N.V. join Reckitt & amp; Colman PLC in 1999 to form Reckitt Benckiser PLC. The name VANISH is now used for various stain cleaning products in various types of textile materials, now including curtains and carpets. RB Group of companies (RB Group) has several subsidiaries around the world, such as RB N.V. based in the Netherlands, an entity holding a trademark for the VANISH brand.
