Inside Moves is a 1980 American drama film directed by Richard Donner. The movie is based on a book by the same name by Todd Walton, with a script later writing duo Valerie Curtin and Barry Levinson.

Plot
After a suicide attempt to leave a man named Roary (John Savage) partially paralyzed, he finds himself living in a slum in Oakland, California. He spends a lot of time in the neighborhood bar, which is full of other handicapped people, and becomes friends with Jerry (David Morse), the bar steward with bad legs.
Jerry gained the attention and respect of the Golden State Warriors as he trained a player and narrowly lost.
Jerry's fortunes changed when one of the professional basketball players lent him money for surgery to fix his leg. Once he was completely healed, Jerry later became a basketball star, fulfilling his lifelong dream. However, he abandoned his old friends by pretending that they never existed.

Diana Scarwid's appearance as Louise, Roary's boyfriend, earned her a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The film also marks his return to the screen by disabled veteran Harold Russell, thirty-four years after his Oscar-winning role in the Best Years of Our Lives.
Donner's biographer James Christie tells how the director confused Cinematographer Kov̮'̬cs with his Hungarian friend Vilmos Zsigmond, calling him "Vilmos" repeatedly. When Zsigmond drops by to the set for a visit, Donner has a T-shirt that reads "MY NAME IS NOT LARGE" "and" MY NAME IS NOT VILMOS "for each.Later they change their clothes and confuse everyone.
