11 For Dummies Books That Are Actually For Dummies
src: 11points.com

For Dummies is a series of reference books intended to present guidelines that are not intimidating to new readers for the various topics covered. The series has been successful worldwide with editions in multiple languages.

The books are examples of media franchises, consistently featuring distinctive cover - usually yellow and black with a triangular cartoon character known as "Human Dummies", and an informal whiteboard logo. The prose is simple and direct; a thick icon, like a piece of string tied around the index finger, is placed on the edge to show the most important parts.

Almost all Dummies books are organized around the section called "sections", which are groups of related chapters. The part is almost always preceded by the Rich Tennant comics that refers to some part of the subject being discussed. Sometimes the same Tennant image reappears in another book Dummies with new text.

Another constant in the Dummies series is "Part of the Dozens", a section at the end of the books that lists 10 items. They are usually a resource for further study and sometimes also include bits of funny information that do not fit easily anywhere else.
